Flexible business processes begin are based on the quality of the corresponding database. SAP’s HANA is a comprehensive solution (hard- and software components geared to ensure optimum performance) that masters sustainably the overall challenges of data management.

This means that data can be used in REALTIME whenever necessary and can be saved several times in SAP HANA, once harmonized. Other than this, only the characteristics or key figures derived from the data will be saved additionally.

Based on the SAP-In-Memory technology used, the appliance can be scaled (only limitations to the GA version, HANA 1.0, that will probably be solved soon). The data can thus be saved and processed simultaneously.

Expenditures necessary in the past in order to create an appropriate data model for analysis and maintenance features now be used at any time to process data and thus generate new business. Data models are modeled as views, allowing for more rapid time-to-market and not burdening warehouse management additionally.

In addition, SAP HANA offers further data model features allowing for data processing to be carried out by means of very powerful database functions. In combination with parallel processing, this will eliminate sustainably the bottleneck of classic data processing.

The processing of large data quantities by means of the parallel SAP-In-Memory technology also leads to a changing of data history structures. Existing data sets are not overwritten with current data sets: The various snapshots are generated , so that the necessary data sets, histories, and time courses may be defined in line with your time-stamp.

In a first step, with its GA 1.0 release, SAP positioned SAP HANA as a stand-alone analytics platform. The data is also loaded into SAP HANA where it is made immediately available for the data models (based on the views offered).

Content on the various fields is already available today. Within the scope of this, operational as well as database dependencies in predefined data models can be done away with. The next SAP NetWeaver BW service pack will make it possible to run SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse on the basis of SAP HANA. Thanks to this, you can already benefit from enhanced performance, from Realtime Analytics and additional agility today, without having to reinvent the application landscape.

SAP HANA is considered to be a strategic basis for new SAP applications. This ensures that investments into this theme can be used in the long term.

SAP HANA makes data and results available to the applications via a large set of standard interfaces (proprietary as well as third-party SAP or non-SAP applications), thus ensuring a seamless integration into the existing application landscape.

Finally, we would like to mention our vision for future developments: It should once again become possible to operate all applications (SAP ECC, SAP CRM, SAP BW, etc.) via one appliance and to thus work with ONE sole physical database. Motivated to update your application landscape for the future?

Following the study, we recommend carrying out a proof-of-concept in your environment. On the one hand, in order to validate study results and on the other, the make SAP HANA experiencable for your company.
